American Military University (AMU) is part of the American Public University System (APUS), which is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) (www.hlcommission.org). HLC accredits degree-granting institutions located in 19 states, and is recognized by the US Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Universities such as The Ohio State, University of Chicago and the U.S. Air Force Academy is also accredited by HLC.

Important Accreditation.

As an accredited institution, our university is eligible to participate in federal education rights programs, such as military tuition assistance, government tuition reimbursement programs, the GI Bill Department of Veterans Affairs, and many corporate education assistance programs. In addition, APUS has been granted approval by the Ministry of Education to participate in the Title IV Federal Student Assistance Program (FSA).

Credits and degrees earned through APUS may be recognized for promotion, assignment, and standard qualification for positions in the military, federal government, and the private sector.

Note: Credits earned here are deemed to qualify for transfer under our accreditation, but the university cannot guarantee that all your credits will be received, as accepting credit is always the prerogative of the receiving institution.

Special Accreditation.

The academic programs listed here have additional specialized accreditation awarded from organizations regulating external industries. Specific accreditation adds a level of rigor to the curriculum and shows employers that graduates of this program have acquired the knowledge and skills necessary to perform in their profession. Specific accreditation at AMU applies to degrees in business, health sciences, and public safety.

CCNE ensures the quality and integrity of the baccalaureate, postgraduate, and residency programs in nursing. As a voluntary and self-regulatory process, CCNE accreditation supports and encourages the ongoing self-assessment of nursing programs and supports the continued growth and enhancement of higher education professional and post-baccalaureate nursing residency programs. Undergraduate and master's degree programs in nursing in the American Public University System are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).
